Elias Wilson Jones
served two enlistment's in the Union Army. His first enlistment was in the 135th Penna.
Vols. His second enlistment he served in the 11th PA Cav from Feb. 1864 through
termination of the war. Elias was born Feb. 14, 1841 in Jefferson County Penna. He was the
10th
child of John and Lydia Jones. He died August 7, 1936 in Brookville, PA. The photo was
taken in Elias's late 80's or early 90's.

Left- In 1864,a young Private Hughes, age 22, walked over 15 miles to have
his photo taken.
Right- An older Hughes taken circa 1925.
Born 1 May 1844 Chester Co., PA. Married 1871 to Louisa Justice. Died 19
Jan 1935 Blair Co., PA. A miner by trade, he enlisted at the age of 22 in
Philadelphia, PA on 15 Jan 1864 for 3 years. Mustered out with the company
on 13 Aug 1865. Applied for disability pension 10 May 1898. His father and
3 brothers also served in the Civil War.

Right- Private Vincent W. Swimler (Swinier) Co. F
killed at Ream's Station VA on June 29, 1864. While on leave, Vincent
married Susan Baker on May 15, 1864. They did not have any children. Vincent
is buried in the Swimelar Cemetery near Sabinsville PA.
